There are moments in business that aren’t about growth.
They’re about purpose.
Strobe My Ride has officially launched the “We’ve Got Your 6” Volunteer Emergency Lighting Donation Program in Canada — a commitment to donating professional emergency warning lighting to Volunteer Fire Departments, Volunteer Search & Rescue Teams, and Volunteer Medical First Responders across the country.
This program didn’t start in a boardroom.
It started years ago.
The Story Behind the Program
When I was a teenager, I was part of the Ottawa Paramedic Service MedVent Program — one of the early members helping get it off the ground.
We purchased a John Deere Gator using allowance money, birthday money, and whatever we could scrape together. We turned it into “Rescue 1,” a mini off-road ambulance built to serve at community events and emergency scenes.
One of the most expensive components?
Emergency warning lighting.
Anyone who has priced professional emergency lighting in Canada knows it’s a significant investment. But visibility saves lives — and cutting corners isn’t an option.
At that time, every dollar mattered.
That’s when I met the late JM Bois, owner of Intercept PSE in Ottawa. He provided fair deals on used emergency lighting so we could safely equip the Gator and later our personal vehicles as licensed responders.
He believed in supporting volunteers.
That experience shaped everything.
The Real Cost of Emergency Lighting for Volunteer Services
Across Canada, Volunteer Emergency Services respond to:
-
Highway collisions
-
Rural medical emergencies
-
Missing person searches
-
Community standby events
-
Natural disasters
Many operate with limited municipal funding and aging equipment.
Professional emergency warning lighting is one of the most critical safety tools on scene:
-
It increases visibility in low-light conditions
-
It reduces secondary collision risk
-
It protects responders and the public
-
It improves scene command presence
Yet for many volunteer organizations, upgrading emergency lighting systems can be financially out of reach.
That’s where this program comes in.
Introducing the “We’ve Got Your 6” Emergency Lighting Donation Program

In Memory of JM Bois
This Volunteer Emergency Lighting Donation Program is dedicated in memory of JM Bois, founder of Intercept PSE in Ottawa.
He supported young responders when budgets were tight and resources were limited. He understood that emergency lighting isn’t about appearance — it’s about safety.
We also shared something less visible — the reality of mental health challenges that many in emergency services quietly face.
Giving back mattered to him.
It matters to Strobe My Ride.
This program carries that forward.
Supporting Volunteer Emergency Services Across Canada
Strobe My Ride supplies professional-grade emergency lighting solutions across Canada, including:
